The Girl and her funny anecdotes

Yesterday, DH was trying to get DD going to go somewhere.  Naturally, she was being silly and not cooperating.  She then asked him "Daddy, are you a boy or a girl?"  He said, "boy" of course.  She giggled and said "no, you are a girl".  He giggled back and said "no, (redacted), I am a boy".

Her comeback?

"Well, you play ball like a girl!"

BWAHAHAHAHA!!!!!

I am really missing The Girl today.  I just want to go home and snuggle with her right now.  She hasn't been acting herself these past two days and I'm a little worried about her, honestly.  No fever or any signs of being sick, just lethargic.  I put up two of her school sheets in my cube at work today.  They are her "L" papers (learning the letter "L")...she colored the lion especially for me.  <3

I miss her so much right now...

I am really missing my daughter today.  She comes out of the bedroom this morning in her little-kid-butt underwear and asks "is it "THE GIRL" and Mommy day today"?  Sadly, no, darling it isn't.  That's what we call days that are just us.  We get to do whatever we feel like.  On those days, if she wants to go to Target 4,000 times, we will.  If she wants "Micken Chuggins" (Chicken McNuggets - she mixed up the words one evening and it was so hilarious that we now call them that), she gets them.  THE GIRL and Mommy days are special days - days where we can talk about anything she wants, see whatever she wants (within reason) and just spend time together.  I love those days more than anything.

And, I am so wishing today was one of those days.

I hope...I REALLY hope that when she is 17 years old, she begs to still have those days.  Of course, the itinerary will be different.  She may not want to watch "The Wizard of Oz" twice that day (or, she might!).  She may want us to get manis/pedis (she already enjoys doing our own nails).  I just hope that she looks forward to those days then as much as she does now - and knows that she can ALWAYS talk to her Momma about whatever she wants to know about and I will always answer honestly.

We spent Mother's Day at the Indiana Dunes State Park along the shore of Lake Michigan.  While it was a little chilly, we had a blast!  We brought a picnic lunch, played in the sand for a few hours and then went to the Nature Center.  You can't really see it in my crappy cell phone picture, but the city of Chicago was coming through bright and clear on the other side.  SOOO pretty...I may be homesick for southern Illinois, but Lake Michigan is a beautiful site that I would miss dearly.

SOOOO worn out after a hard day of playing in the sand!!
