Just Hear Those Sleigh Bells Jingling...

I LOVE CHRISTMAS TIME. This, seriously is the most magical time of the year. I have always loved it, but it's even better with a child who is excited about Christmas and actually understands what is going to happen. The Girl has helped me wrap a few presents (ie...she has scraps of wrapping paper and wraps up her plastic food and gives it to FIL or DH for a present, which they must immediately open). We decorated the tree on Thanksgiving and finished the rest of our decorations last week. If it was socially acceptable, I would leave my Christmas stuff up all year. I love the songs, the sights, the sounds, the smells, the family time...everything!!! A pic of our tree is below (The Girl "decorated" my shoving garland into the tree - it has since been removed.)

Christmas is my favorite holiday, by far - but 4th of July is a close second. I have realized over the years that my favorite holidays revolve around being with family and friends. When did I become such a sap?

I can't wait to go ice skating with The Girl later this week (or weekend), too. She should like it, but sometimes I'm wrong about these things. Fortunately, she's still at that age that whatever she does with her family is always a blast. :)

I think the reason I love Christmas so much is that most everyone is in the holiday spirit. People are, generally, more cheery and more giving. I love seeing the good in people come out. Throughout the year, people get very bitter about things and seem to take things for granted - Christmas reminds us that we are all very fortunate to be living in the US and have the necessities and desires we want. Of course, we all don't have everything we want or need, but we can eat a good meal, take a warm shower, and go to bed at night knowning our freedoms are protected. Sometimes it takes this time of year to remind us to be grateful of that, right? Some people are bitter and say they "hate" Christmas, but I truly think that, deep down it's because they don't realize the joy that this time brings to some people.

Anyway - MERRY CHRISTMAS and I hope you have a great holiday season...may it be merry and bright!!!

I think Thanksgiving is better than Christmas, but that just means it's #3 with me.
