Hawks Win

The Chicago Black Hawks won the Stanley Cup last night.  I am an AVID, DIE-HARD St. Louis Blues fan.  I will bleed Blue 'till the day I die.  But, I have to admit that it is pretty amazing to be in a city that is embracing this victory today.  The energy leading up to last night's win has been incredible.  As a hockey fan, in general, it's so nice to hear the sport getting coverage.  Hockey is kind of a cult following.  You find a fellow hockey fan and you instantly bond over that.  Congratulations to the 2010 Stanley Cup Champions: the Chicago Black Hawks.

Jonathan Toews kisses the cup during a team photo.

On a side note, seeing Jeremy Roenick cry for the Cup he never lifted was heart-breaking.  I started watching hockey 13 years ago.  Roenick had been gone from the Hawks for awhile at this point (he was a Phoenix Coyote when I first remember seeing him).  He will always be a 'Hawk at heart and I felt bad for him.  He showed a lot of emotion last night and THAT is why I love this sport.  That Cup is the dream of anyone who has ever picked up a stick or laced up their skates.  It has brought grown men to tears, made them speechless, make them grow nasty beards for months and turns them into those kids they were playing on the pond at five years old - just striving for victory.

Go Hawks! I haven't watched hockey in forever, was a huge fan of the Blackhawks when Jeremy Roenick WAS a 'Hawk, and I completely agree with you! Maybe I should pull out my old Hull jersey and wear that today! :)
